About Donna

Welcome and Thank You for visiting my site. My name is Donna Bick, and I grew up in Fenton, Missouri, and I now live in Highland, Illinois. I retired from the military in 2010 with 21 years of military service working in what is called Nondestructive Inspection (NDI). Basically what NDI is is looking for structural flaws in aircraft, or metal parts such as fire safety equipment, missile loading equipment, engine stands, etc.

I have been stationed in many wonderful places in the United States and in the world as well as have been sent to many fascinating places TDY (temporary duty). My first base after Basic training in Lackland AFB,Texas, was Norton AFB in Sourthern California (San Bernardina, Ca). My next base was Spangdahlem, Germany which is in the southwest section of Germany close to Trier, Germany. After being stationed in Germany for three years, I was then given orders to Eglin AFB in Florida. I spent six years there and then received orders to Aviano, Italy which is approx. 1 hour north if Venice, Italy. My last base was in Minot, North Dakota. I froze the whole time there and can honestly say I will never set foot in that state again. It has a lovely scenery, but the winters are too cold and too long. Places I have been TDY are Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Turkey, Guam, Pensacola, Florida, Las Vegas and Iceland.

The main aircraft I worked on was F-16’s, but I have also worked on F-15’s, C-141’s. A-10’s, and B-52’s.  After I retired, I started school at McKendree University in Lebanon, IL as an English Major. I will graduate with a double major initially in English, Literature/Writing Trac, but I will also have a degree in Professional Writing and Rhetoric with a minor in creative writing.  I ABSOLUTELY love going to school. If I had it my way I would be a full-time student for the rest of my life!

I recently just added a photo of me and my high school friend, Kelly. I love this picture. Jon is next to us on my right. He also went to high school with us. We are just out having fun, as usual! 🙂
